New Year New Yield (1/13/2015)

Kim Johnson

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.
— Psalm 1:1-3, NIV

It is the beginning of another new year. As leaders we are no doubt planning, setting goals and researching our resources to determine the how we can make 2015 successful. With the myriad of material just a mouse click away, it is easy to forget our success is never based upon our sources but His sufficiency. God doesn’t look for the best program. He looks for the basic person, someone who will be totally dependent on Him.

Scripture is full of example after example of an ordinary person called by God to do the extraordinary. It doesn’t take confidence, natural ability, a high IQ, good looks or money. The only requirement is faith in the One whose strength will give the competence to accomplish His will.

Has God been calling you to take a step in a different direction in 2015? Have you been listening? Or are you ignoring His voice out of fear, complacency or even pride? Remind yourself that God is the One who is in control of the ministry He had put in your hands. When God calls you it is He who is sending you. Not only will He send you but He will go with you; and when he goes with you He will equip you. That is when you will have everything you need to make 2015 a success.

You never know God is all you need until God is all you have.
— Rick Warren
