Copy of Writers Getaway with schedule

An overnight getaway for Christian women who are looking for practical help and encouragement as they pursue their dreams to publish.

Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at 1 p.m. - Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at 1 p.m.

St. Anthony’s Retreat Center, Three Rivers, CA

What to Expect

Kathy Collard Miller and Cindi McMenamin will be offering encouragement, instruction and one-on-one coaching at the "Writers' Getaway" scheduled just prior to The Springs this Fall in Three Rivers, CA. They will:

  • answer your questions about writing and publishing
  • inspire you with ideas and options for getting your writing in front of readers
  • encourage you with the difference between marketing yourself and marketing the message God has placed on your heart
  • equip you with the essentials for writing successfully in today's world
  • instill hope in you to keep writing for God's glory
  • coach you, individually, in the area of your writing where you most need help or encouragement

Plus, Kathy and Cindi will share vulnerably and from their hearts how to bring your motives before God and stay surrendered to the One for whom you write.

 How to Prepare

In preparation for the Writers Getaway, read the chapters from Kathy's "Writing as a Ministry for God's Glory" that apply to your writing goals and desires.

What to Bring

Please print "Writing as a Ministry for God's Glory" and bring it with you to the Writers' Getaway. You will discuss what you’ve learned from these chapters with Kathy and Cindi.

If you have writing that you've been working on, notebooks of ideas, books that inspire you, please bring them. You might also want to bring a laptop or tablet, and your favorite pen.

Schedule of Events

Welcome and Introductions

Session 1:  Let it Flow - Gaining Inspiration and Running with It

2013 04 18_Springs_4428.jpg

Kathy and Cindi will share where they each get inspiration and how that inspiration becomes the fuel for what they write. Practical steps will be provided so you can know how to follow the inspiration God gives you.

Session 2: Promoting Your Message, Not Yourself

There is pressure out there to promote, promote, promote. But it doesn’t have to be a “Look at me” “Follow me,” or “All about me” situation. Kathy and Cindi share a biblical perspective as well as practical ways to take the message God has put on our hearts and get it out there so it translates “Look at Him,” “Follow Him” and “It’s all about Him.”

Question & Answer Session with Kathy and Cindi

A time to discuss your questions about the “Writing as a Ministry for God’s Glory” preparatory material, as well as the material discussed in Sessions 1 and 2 with Kathy and Cindi.

Session 3: Letting God Purify Your Motives –Kathy Collard Miller

Murky motives can easily diminish the power of our service for God. The approval, attention, and applause of others becomes our focus rather than The Audience of One Master and Lord. Kathy knows that struggle through many years of the ups and downs of ministry. This session will encourage you to faithfully turn your eyes to God.

Session 4: The Lord is Your Reward – Cindi McMenamin

How would our lives—and our writing—look different if we were to surrender the need to succeed and see God as our portion and our very great reward? Cindi shares the wonderful benefits of seeing God as our portion (Psalm 16:5-6), and  the points of surrender that God often takes the writer through to make sure He remains all we desire.

Free time, Discussion, Reflection/Writing or Goodnight
