Aging Faithfully

Join us as we journey through Alice Frying’s book Aging Faithfully: The Holy Invitation of Growing Older. Alice asks, “Would you like to grow in life-giving ways as you age? Do you have the courage to let go of former ways of thinking to receive God’s love and life in new ways?” This online, small group conversation about the spiritual aspects of aging will meet 7 times between Feb and June.

A Six-Session Online Conversation

the Spiritual Dimensions of Aging

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree…they will flourish in the courts of our God.

They will still bear fruit in old age; they will stay fresh and green.” (Ps 92:12-14)

We invite you to join us and discover God’s calling for the last third of your life. All ages are invited.

Book: Aging Faithfully: The Holy Invitation of Growing Older by Alice Fryling

Dates: Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 25, March 10, March 24, April 7.

We’ll meet Sunday afternoons at 2 pm PST/3 pm MST on zoom.

Alice writes: “I need to trust that while there may be less of me, there will be more of Christ.” Aging is part of God’s plan. We pray you will discover God’s purpose for you as you listen for the whispers of the Spirit to your soul.

It is our prayer that as you read and discuss each chapter and reflect on Scripture, God will give you a new vision for how you can experience aging as a holy invitation. May he deepen your faith in his good plan and live a fruitful life each day until you see Jesus.

What Women Said about the 2023 Group

“We thought we were signing up to discuss a book and what surprised us is how we all became such good friends. Karen found the book to be so personally helpful, she gathered a small group of her friends at church to go through it together. For Ruth, the book helped her to slow down. She felt she was saying yes to too many things, and she learned to wait, rest, and see what God had for her in the next season of her life. Barb found that the discussion gave her language and forced her to look at her own journey during retirement. Sharon and Ruth especially appreciated the fellowship.”

“I have really enjoyed reading the book and discussing it. There are an amazing number of insights about aging that I had never thought about. It made me realize that even though I’m just starting into the “retirement scene” I’m not really “old” yet. I find I’m thinking differently now. Alice does a good job of reminding us of the losses we will begin to grieve with older age. However, despite the losses, Alice helps us see we can look at aging as God’s gift.”- Karen

God wants to bless us, and others through us.
