From the Board Room to the Throne Room is to begin my life’s testimony as well as my introduction to this gathering of evangelical women … and I without a ministry.
As a 1947 Baby Boomer whose life up to that point had been a success as a single female executive in the business world, I was invited by Susie Kimes to an event, which prompted me to send an email introducing myself and offering to help with all things relating to corporate structure. I called it then and now, a Ministry of Availability, as I was embraced, encouraged and mentored by the women God put in authority over me. Recognizing them with heartfelt gratitude: Ginger Bertoni, Jackie Rettberg, Christine Preheim, Carolyn Shea, and Luann Budd.
When the scripture encourages…. “He gives us the desires of our heart,” the most amazing part is that oftentimes we’re not aware of just what he has in mind. I surely never dreamed my ministry would be to become a pastor’s wife. Yes, you read that right. Although I’ll first say I’m a minister of a new covenant according to 2 Corinthians 3:6. Then I have a ministry to my husband, three children, six grandchildren and three great grands. I have had the honor to serve these past thirty-three years, in various ministry positions, as a member of the Board of NEWIM, retiring to the Leadership Team while continuing to serve women who minister to others, reminding them that our worship of him is what fuels our work for him.
